Issues & Political Compass

How the Political Compass Is Calculated

The political compass plots your overall position across two axes, built from your accumulated issue stances.

How it works

Each issue that participates in the compass is tagged with an axis and a weight. As you take a stance, your score on that issue contributes to the relevant axis in proportion to its weight — issues explicitly excluded from the compass are skipped entirely.

Reading your position

Your final compass coordinate is a running aggregate across every compass-eligible issue you've taken a stance on. Taking a stance on more issues generally sharpens your position; changing an existing stance updates your position immediately using your latest answer, not your original one.

Where you'll see it

Your compass position appears on your public profile, giving other players (and potential endorsers) a quick read on where you sit relative to the rest of the electorate.
